Answer: Canadian Museum of Civilization

The Canadian Museum of Civilization is in Gatineau, Quebec (across the river from Ottawa, Ontario). The Bata Shoe Museum displays hundreds of shoes from all around the world. According the official website, "footwear on display ranges from Chinese bound foot shoes and ancient Egyptian sandals to chestnut-crushing clogs and glamourous platforms".

Other museums in Toronto are McKenzie House, Casa Loma, The Design Exchange, The Textile Museum of Canada, Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art, the Gardiner Ceramics Museum and The Hockey Hall of Fame.

The Miller Brewing Company is an American brewery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Maudite is a Belgian-style beer made by Unibroue, a Quebec brewing company. Its name and label refer to the French-Canadian legend of the chasse-galerie. Unibroue was recently taken over by Sleeman brewing, which was bought by Sapporo, so it's part of a Japanese brewing company now.

Despite the name, Amsterdam is a beer brewed in Toronto, Ontario in the Amsterdam brewery. And Molson is part of the massive Molson Coors brewing company (along with Coors Light), which is the fifth largest brewing company in the world, competing with Anheuser-Busch and the company that makes Corona.

Beer is obviously not a Canadian invention as the first evidence of beer dates back to 9500 BC in Egypt or Mesopotamia, before Canada was a country. Insulin, as a treatment for diabetes, was first extracted and used by Canadians Frederick Banting, Charles Best and James Collip in 1922. Standard time was introduced by Sir Sandford Fleming in 1878.

In 1968, IMAX was invented by Canadian filmmakers Graeme Ferguson and Roman Kroitor, along with Robert Kerr and William C. Shaw. IMAX is an innovative way to show movies in a movie theatre.

Morse Code was invented by Americans Samuel Morse, Joseph Henry and Alfred Vail in 1836. The telephone was patented as an invention by Alexander Graham Bell of Brantford, Ontario in 1876. Others were credited for inventing the telephone, but Graham Bell was the first to patent the invention. Mike Lazaridis of RIM led the development of the BlackBerry in 1999, which led to the constant texting of corporate workers worldwide. SONAR, which is used to communicate with other vessels and to navigate, was invented by Reginald Fessenden in 1914.

However, Leonardo Da Vinci had already come up with the idea in 1490 by listening to a tube inserted in the water. Canadians have also invented walkie-talkies, pagers and commercial radio (Reginald Fessenden).

Ryan Reynolds played an American marrying his Canadian boss so she could keep her citizenship in "The Proposal." He hails from Vancouver, British Columbia. Will Arnett was born in Toronto, Ontario. Michael Cera was born in Brampton, Ontario. Amy Adams was born in Paris, France to American parents.
6. Who is Tim Horton?

Answer: Hockey Player

Tim Horton was a famous defenseman for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was also the co-founder of the famous coffee-chain "Tim Hortons" with Ron Joyce, his business partner. His first location opened in Hamilton, Ontario in 1964. Three years later it became a multi-million dollar company.

In 1974, he died in a car crash in St. Catharine's at 44 years old. By 2011, there were 2700 locations in Canada, 556 locations in the United States and a few restaurants in Britain.
7. Which food isn't Canadian?

Answer: Taco salad

Poutine is a French-Canadian variation on French fries made with gravy and cheese curds. Beaver Tails are a sweet pastry. Flipper pie is a pie with seal flipper as filling. But we don't just eat animal parts or things named after animal parts in Canada.

Some other foods we are known for are timbits, Montreal smoked meat, Nanaimo bars, maple syrup, Kraft Dinner, Winnipeg Goldeye and Saskatoon berries. I could go on... We even invented the Caesar cocktail!

Canadian is not a language. There is no official language of the United States. Gaelic is spoken in Ireland and Scotland. Cree is one of the Canadian aboriginal languages. Many people in Canada are bilingual. Quebec, New Brunswick, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta have large Francophone populations.

Answer: Ice hockey and lacrosse

Yes, Canada has two national sports. We're that athletic. Lacrosse is played in the summer and ice hockey in the winter. Alpine skiing is the national sport of Slovenia. Cross-country is the Norwegian national sport. Although Canada is quite proficient in this sport, skeleton originated in Switzerland. It is basically professional tobogganing.

Answer: Foo Fighters

Foo Fighters was a spin-off of the Seattle, Washington band Nirvana, started by Dave Grohl. Metric is a Montreal and Toronto-based band. Alexisonfire formed in St. Catharines, Ontario. Rush is one of the most famous rock bands in the world, with the most consecutive gold and platinum albums by a rock band after the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Bands like Metallica and the Smashing Pumpkins have been influenced by the Toronto-based rock band.
