Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What are Larry from TV show "SpongeBob SquarePants" and Salvador Dali's telephone receiver from 1936?

Answer: Lobsters

Larry is the bodybuilding lobster on "SpongeBob" who also acts as lifeguard on Bikini Bottom. Dali's famous piece entitled "Lobster Telephone" featured a regular rotary dial phone with a lobster as the receiver. Both telephones and lobsters have strong sexual undertones for Dali and he is well remembered for his 1939 multi media piece, "The Dream of Venus", in which nude models wore 'costumes' made of fresh seafood, with a lobster used by the artist to cover the female sexual organs of his models.
2. Equilateral, Isosceles and Scalene are all types of which shape?

Answer: Triangles

Let's see how well I remember my school days. An equilateral triangle has three equal sides and each angle is therefore 60 degrees. An isosceles triangle has two equal sides and two equal angles while a scalene triangle has no sides with equal length and no two angles the same.
3. The song that Glenn Frey contributed to the "Beverley Hills Cop" soundtrack in 1984 was, "The ___ Is On". What is the missing word?

Answer: Heat

When this track climbed the Billboard Hot 100 chart, all the way to number two, it became the highest charting solo track by a member of the Eagles. The list of the other artists on the soundtrack album certainly allow for accurate dating of the movie as they include Patti LaBelle, Junior Giscombe and Shalamar. Ah, the 80s!
4. In a 1864 poem by Emily Dickinson, what "hurried slow" before "The lightning showed a yellow beak, And then a livid claw."?

Answer: Thunder

Dickinson's poem is "A Thunderstorm" but it is also well known as "The wind begun to rock the grass", which is also the opening line. The poem is seen a a metaphor for life as it describes the effect that nature can have on nature.
5. What was the first name of Space Ranger and close friend of Woody Pride, Mr. Lightyear?

Answer: Buzz

Answer: Lasers

Lasers were invented in 1958 and laser is an acronym for "Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation". They have so many uses it would be impossible to list them all but one of the most exciting must be their use in non invasive surgeries, especially gynecological and eye procedures.
7. What does a harp have 47 of that a bass guitar only has four of?

Answer: Strings

A harp can have as few as 40 strings, but an orchestral harp will usually have 47, which gives it almost the same musical range as a piano. Other stringed instruments include the Russian balalaika which has three strings and the Greek bouzouki which has either three or four pairs of strings, depending on the model.
