The Duke of Ormonde created the Phoenix Park in 1662 on behalf of King Charles II of England. It contains a zoo and the residence of the Irish President.

Kavanagh was a well-known figure about the city of Dublin, and drank in a number of its famous pubs. His poem "Canal Bank Walk" showed his love of that area of Dublin.

Answer: Statue of Anna Livia

The "Floozie in the Jacuzzi" is a sculpture of Anna Livia Plurabelle, a character from Joyce's novel "Finnegan's Wake". The statue was originally in Dublin's main street, O'Connell Street, for over ten years before being removed to Croppies Memorial Park. It is a statue of a semi-clothed woman lying in a stream of water.

Answer: The mummified body of a Crusader

There are several mummified remains in the vaults of St. Michan's. The church dates to the 17th century, but was built on the remains of a Viking chapel from the 11th century.

In the 19th century, Pope Gregory XVI gave the remains of the saint to an Irish priest. He placed them in the church in Dublin.

Answer: It was a red light district known as "Monto"

Now called Foley Street, Montgomery Street was one of the biggest red-light districts in Europe at the end of the 19th century. It was closed down in the 1920s by campaigns run by the Legion of Mary. It is the subject of a well-known bawdy Irish song "Take Her Up To Monto".

Answer: An armed rebellion against British rule known as the Easter Rising

On Easter Monday 1916, a group of armed rebels seized key buildings in Dublin and declared an Irish Republic. Their rebellion lasted just six days. A number of the rebels were executed later, but their action led to the revival of what is known as "physical force republicanism" in Ireland.

Answer: The Beatles

The Beatles only performed once in Dublin, in November 1963 at the Adelphi Cinema. The cinema later became a car park.

Leinster House, the former home of the Dukes of Leinster, has served as the home of the Irish parliament since 1922.

The Book of Kells contains the four gospels. It dates to somewhere around the year 800, and is one of the greatest illuminated books to survive from that era. The book was kept at the Abbey of Kells until the Cromwellian era when it was taken to Dublin for safe-keeping and presented to Trinity College in 1661.
