1. What was the part played by Roddy McDowall in "Planet of the Apes"?

Answer: Cornelius

Born Roderick Andrew Anthony Jude McDowall, (wow, I can't imagine having to spell all of that as a child), in 1928, Roddy McDowall played the part of Cornelius in "Planet of the Apes" (1968). He reprised this role in "Escape From the Planet of the Apes" (1971), "Conquest of the Planet of the Apes" (1972) and "Battle for the Planet of the Apes" (1973).
2. Who starred in the title role in "Hogan's Heroes" from 1965 to 1971?

Answer: Bob Crane

Bob Crane more-or-less began his acting career as a neighbor of Donna and Alex Stone on "The Donna Reed Show" in 1963. Then, after filming "Man-Trap" and "Return to Peyton Place" (both in 1961) he moved on to star as Col. Hogan on "Hogan's Heroes". His life was tragically cut short when he was murdered in Scottsdale, Arizona on June 29, 1978.

His life and death became the subject of the 2002 film "Auto Focus".
3. A very well-known mayor of this, the largest, city in the U.S. was Rudy Giuliani. What city is this?

Answer: New York City

The first mayor of New York City, Thomas Willett, was appointed by the governor in 1665. An amendment to New York State's constitution passed in 1834 provided direct popular election to the office of mayor. New York City and its Mayor's Office made their way into pop culture via "Spin City" (1996), a sitcom starring Michael J. Fox and several crime dramas including "Law & Order" (1990), all of its spin-offs, "NYPD Blue" (1993) and "CSI: New York" (2004).
4. Begun as an offshoot of a Harvard University publication, which magazine hit the shelves in 1970?

Answer: National Lampoon

"Harvard Lampoon" alumni Douglas Kenney, Henry Beard and Robert Hoffman began the magazine in 1969. "National Lampoon" branched out to radio and the stage where many of the cast members went on to the "Not Ready for Prime Time Players" in the early days of "Saturday Night Live" (1975).

These included John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase, Garrett Morris, Jane Curtin, Gilda Radner and Laraine Newman.
5. What song was a hit for the Bay City Rollers in 1976?

Answer: Saturday Night

This song was debuted on Howard Cosell's variety show "Saturday Night Variety Show" on September 20, 1975 and hit the top of the charts on January 3, 1976. After running through several names the Edinburgh-based band randomly pointed to a spot on the map, Bay City, Michigan and thus became the Bay City Rollers.
6. What was the occupation shared by Mata Hari, Giacomo Casanova and Belle Boyd?

Answer: Spies

Born Margaretha Grietje Zelle in 1876, Mata Hari was both a prostitute and exotic dancer. She gained fame, however, during World War I as a spy.
Giacomo Casanova - born in 1725 - was renowned as a great lover and was also a lawyer, acquiring his education from gifts given to his mother who was an actress. He was also a spy for the Venetian Inquisitors.
Born Maria Isabella Boyd in 1844, Belle Boyd was thrust into espionage when Union soldiers broke into her parents' home. While imprisoned for shooting one of the soldiers, she was able to gather information from some of her guards and pass it to the Confederates through her slave Eliza Hopewell.
7. What is the word meaning "to feather an arrow"?

Answer: Fletch

The name Fletcher is an occupational surname meaning arrow maker. Answer: Funny Farm

The closest The Go-Go's got to the top of the chart was their number two hit "We Got The Beat" (1980). Band member Belinda Carlisle, however, scored several Hot 100 hits with songs such as "Mad About You" (1986) and "Heaven is a Place on Earth" (1987).
