Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The price I had to pay to get this quiz online was quite reasonable, but what word regularly goes with "priced"?

Answer: Over

Overpriced is correct, although I think the quiz is worth its weight in gold. Unfortunately, the number of electrons required to put this quiz on the web do not weigh very much!
2. My garden has not had much attention lately. What sort of growing has it been doing?

Answer: Over

My garden is overgrown! Incidentally, "Overgrown Eden" is the name of an album released by InMe, an English alternative metal band from Brentwood, Essex, that included such songs as "Underdose", "Wounds" and "Firefly".
3. In cricket, what name is given to every set of six balls bowled?

Answer: Over

There used to be eight balls to an over in Australia, but it was deemed that play would speed up if there were only six. I think it was more the case that advertisements could be placed every six balls instead of eight.
4. What would be the acronym for registration of vital events in Oregon, USA?

Answer: OVER

Oregon Vital Events Register is a multi-year project to modernize Oregon's vital records systems. The system provides a secure web-based environment that supports convenient, stable and flexible operations from the creation of certificates to the production of certified copies and statistical reporting.
5. If you're at the halfway point of a task, what sort of "take" should be done at this stage?

Answer: Stock

Stock take sales are often done midway through the financial year. Therefore, halfway through the quiz is a good time to take stock and work out if you have been putting in correct answers, without blindly doing what you did before.
6. What word(s) should you say over a two-way radio to indicate you have finished what you are saying, and are awaiting a reply?

Answer: Over

The word "over" indicates that you have finished talking and you expect a reply, whilst "out" indicates that you have finished. It is not wise to talk about cricket over the radio, as each time you start to describe an over, other people immediately jump in and cut you off, and if someone is caught or bowled, you are immediately off air when you say "he's out".
7. The string on my bow and arrow can be drawn, but what sort of "drawn" has me in trouble with my bank?

Answer: Over

Being overdrawn means you've taken more money from the bank than what you have. "Overdrawn" is also the title of a song by White Sea, a solo project of Morgan Kibby, although she is better known for fronting LA indie band The Romanovs.
8. Find the connecting word, which has something to do with cricket. Maiden ---->XXXX ---->throw

Answer: over

A maiden over occurs when no runs are scored from a bowler's six balls. This is unlikely to occur if an overthrow is made when a fielder has incorrectly returned the ball to either the bowler or wicketkeeper.
9. What sort of "head" refers to the ongoing expenses of running a business?

Answer: Over

If you run a business, "overhead" means the continuous expenditure of running the business. If you work as a hairdresser, however, you will find most of the work is overhead.
10. What are the missing letters required to turn a craft into a vehicle that floats on both land and water?

Answer: Hover

A hovercraft operates by creating a cushion of high-pressure air. This cushion is usually contained within a flexible "skirt", and it typically hovers at heights between 200mm and 600mm above any surface.
