Nowadays, indigo is manufactured synthetically and is used to color most pairs of jeans. Finally, Amy Ray and Emily Saliers are better known as the successful folk music duo, the "Indigo Girls." The twosome are childhood friends who started playing music together during the time that they attended Emory University in Atlanta Georgia.

A fusion of the two is considered to represent transformation and harmony. The One Penny Orange is one of the rarest postage stamps in the world.

The color violet takes its name from the violet flower that is a bluish-purple color. Violet is also the color of lavender and amethysts. In 1997, the musical "Violet" appeared off-Broadway and was revived in 2014. It is based on the short story, "The Ugliest Pilgrim" by Doris Betts.

The story follows a disfigured young woman from North Carolina to Tulsa, Oklahoma in a quest to become healed from her ailment. DC comics also use Violet for a character. First appearing in 1961, Violet has the ability to shrink in size. Finally, the great New York University, and NCAA Division III institution, sponsors 23 sports and dresses its teams in Mayflower violet and white.

Although they are known as the violets, the male athletes are excited about the fact the official mascot has now become the bobcat.
