As a high school "drama nerd", I became quite familiar with spirit gum. It's a useful substance when attaching false noses, beards, wigs, and other disguises that help the audience suspend disbelief during a performance.

Answer: Led Zeppelin was on trial for stealing part of one of Spirit's songs.

Jimmy Page and Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin were accused of plagiarism, as the guitar part of Led Zeppelin's 1971 song "Stairway to Heaven" was deemed similar to Spirit's 1967 song "Taurus". In 2016, the case, filed by the estate of the late guitarist Randy California (real name Randy Wolfe), went to trial. The jury ruled in favor of Led Zeppelin.

Charles Lindbergh flew the Spirit of St. Louis from New York to Paris on May 20-21, 1927 -- a flight that went down in history as the first solo nonstop transatlantic flight. Although I was born several decades after this flight occurred, I was fortunate to see this beautiful custom-built monoplane in its current home: the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.
