1. Which state can boast the "Granite Capital of the World"?

Answer: Georgia

Elberton, Georgia produces more granite annually than any other city in the word, therefore, they have proclaimed themselves the capital. The first commercial quarry was opened in 1889 and now almost 300 separate companies and workshops are involved in the granite industry. Elberton claims that there are monuments or markers in all fifty states made from their granite.

Restaurants in Breaux Bridge were the first to offer crawfish on the menu. It was also here that the now world-famous crawfish etouffee was created. It is also well known for its crawfish farming. For the city's centennial celebration in 1959, the Louisiana legislature proclaimed the city "The Crawfish Capital of the World".

Answer: Tennessee

Columbia, Tennessee, a suburb of Nashville, claims to be the "Mule Capital Of the World". The city has Mule Day Celebration over four days every April. The events include a parade, a mule show, a log pulling contest and a log loading contest. The Mule Day Beauty Pageant is held in February.

In and around Vardaman, Mississippi there are nearly 30,000 acres of sweet potatoes planted. Every November, they play host to the "National Sweet Potato Festival" that will result in one lucky lady being crowned the Sweet Potato Queen.

Venice, Florida claims the title of "The Shark Tooth Capital of the World" due to the large number of fossilized shark teeth found along its beaches every year. The Shark Tooth Festival happens every April with vendors selling arts, crafts and of course fossilized shark teeth.

Answer: Alabama

Shortly after World War II, the US Army established the Ordnance Guided Missile Center around Huntsville, Alabama. About 200 Nazi rocket scientists, including Wernher von Braun, where employed here. It initially began developing missiles for the US Army but was soon tasked with developing the rockets that eventually landed men on the moon.

It is still heavily involved in research for the military and NASA, but it is also home to NASA's Space Camp.
7. Which state contains the "Live Music Capital of the World" along with being the home of young Sheldon Cooper?

Answer: Texas

Austin, Texas is called the "Live Music Capital of the World" because on any night you can find over one hundred venues offering live music. Austin has many music festivals yearly including South by Southwest and the Keep Austin Weird Festival. In addition to the usual venues, concerts are also put on at City Hall, the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and even Whole Food Market hosts live music.
8. Which state can claim the "Frog Capital of the World"?

Answer: Louisiana

Rayne, Louisiana has been affiliated with frogs since the 1880s when a chef named Donat Pucheu introduced delicious bullfrog dishes to New Orleans restaurants. Word of these dishes soon spread and soon the town was exporting frogs to France. In 1946, the town started a frog derby in which the lovely ladies of town dressed frogs as jockeys and raced.

While frogs are no longer exported, they do have a Frog Festival on Labor Day weekend.

Answer: Arkansas

Malvern, Arkansas is the home to three brick plants due to the clay found in the area. If you visit during the last weekend in June you can attend "Brickfest". In addition to food, arts and crafts, you can see the brick car derby, the brick toss and the best dressed brick contest.

Answer: Mississippi

In and around Belzoni, Mississippi you will find about 40,000 acres covered in commercial catfish ponds. About 60% of the United States farm raised catfish comes from this area in the Mississippi Delta. In April you can attend the "World Catfish Festival" and try catfish cooked every way you can dream of. You can also attend the Little Miss Catfish Pageant.
