1. Before Bachman Turner Overdrive (BTO) hit the scene, in what band did Randy Bachman and Fred Turner play?

Answer: The Sparkle Tones

The Sparkle Tones was made up of no less than ten guys and they played their senior prom. BTO officially formed in 1973, and went on to become one of Winnipeg's most world famous bands.
2. What Winnipeg high school did Neil Young get thrown out of for playing guitar in the halls?

Answer: Kelvin High

He was suspended several times in '63-64, and was the reason that is a "No guitars in the halls" rule there still. Neil went on to become yet another world famous Winnipeg export.
3. What is Polo Park?

Answer: A shopping centre

It is an excellent mall near St James, a suburb of Winnipeg. The site the mall is now on was actually a polo field in Winnipeg. It originally opened as a mall in 1949, and was one the first enclosed shopping malls in Canada.

Answer: Capote

Many Hollywood movies have been filmed in the PEG. Philip Seymore Hoffman starred as Truman Capote in this amazing film.
5. In what year did The Assiniboine Park Zoo celebrate its 100th birthday?

Answer: 2004

Founded in 1904, it is an amazing zoo that compares to San Diego or Toronto quite well. It is a great source of pride for the city of Winnipeg, and is open year round for visitors from around the world.
6. Who performed live for the first time ever in Winnipeg in a band called Gorilla Gorilla?

Answer: Biff Naked

All of these are Winnipeg acts. In 1990, Biff was working as a dishwasher at East Side Mario's when she formed this band...look at her now!

I don't think he admits it often though. Monty was the host and originator of the game show, "Let's Make a Deal" from 1963-1977.

Answer: The Golden Boy

Respect him...anyone who can last a Winnipeg winter buck naked (he's been up there since 1920) deserves his props! Seriously, the Golden Boy is a very well-known landmark near the centre of Winnipeg. The Louis Riel Statue is on the legislature grounds as well.

Natives of Winnipeg are called Winnipeggers and that's the fact, jack. We Winnipeggers are proud of our great city.
