Answer: The Beatles

"Why she
Had to go I don't know, she wouldn't say.
I said,
Something wrong, now I long for yesterday."

'Yesterday" was a solo song-writing effort by Paul McCartney, and he was the only Beatle to play on the original recording. It topped the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in 1965, but peaked at Number Eight in the UK. "Yesterday" entered 'The Guinness Book Of World Records' as the most covered song ever, with 3,000 recordings at that point. Some of those covers were by the likes of, Ray Charles, Marianne Faithfull, Marvin Gaye, Tom Jones,, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, The Supremes,, Andy Williams, and Tammy Wynette.
2. "Today I feel like pleasing you more than before Today I know what I want to do but I don't know what for To be living for you is all I want to do To be loving you it'll all be there when my dreams come true" Which high flying band sang about loving emotions in a song called "Today"?

Answer: Jefferson Airplane

"Today" was written by Marty Balin and Paul Kantner and appeared on the 1967 album
"Surrealistic Pillow". Formed in 1965, Jefferson Airplane hailed out of San Francisco and were mainstays of the psychedelic rock genre. They had two US top 10 single hits and several Top 20 albums, but faded away by the early 1970s. They lived on through Jefferson Starship.
3. "The sun'll come out Tomorrow Bet your bottom dollar That tomorrow There'll be sun! Tomorrow! Tomorrow! I love ya Tomorrow! You're always a day away" OK, wipe away those tears: which musical is this song from?

Answer: Annie

The musical "Annie" was based on the comic strip "Little Orphan Annie," and opened on Broadway in 1977. Since then it's toured the world and been back on Broadway and was made into movies in 1982 and 1999. Andrea McArdle, who was then 14, was the first to play Annie on Broadway.
4. Which of these movies earned Judy Holliday a Best Actress Oscar in 1950?

Answer: Born Yesterday

The movie was based on Garson Kanin's play and also starred Broderick Crawford and William Holden. The performance also earned Holliday a Golden Globe.
"Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow" was released in 1963; "Yesterday Was a Lie" in 2008 and "Yesterday Once More" in 2004.
5. "The biggest disease today is not leprosy or tuberculosis, but rather the feeling of being unwanted": Which great humanitarian now on the way to sainthood made this comment?

Answer: Mother Theresa

Born in Albania in August 1910 Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhi, was later famously known as Mother Theresa of Calcutta. She spent 45 years among the poorest people of Calcutta and died in September 1997. She was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 and was beatified by Pope John Paul II, a process that led to the granting of sainthood.
6. "Shocking! Positively shocking!": Who played James Bond in the 007 movie "Tomorrow Never Dies"?

Answer: Pierce Brosnan

This was easy meat for all Bond fans. Brosnan was the agent with a licence to kill in "Tomorrow Never Dies" (1987). The others did not play Bond, although Selleck was considered for the role. Tom Cruise was Ethan Hunt in the "Mission Impossible" movie series from 1996 while Rowan Atkinson was 'Johnny English' in the 2003 movie of the same name - a spoof that more than tipped its hat at the Bond genre.
OK Bond fans, no bonus points, but which movie did the quote come from? Give up? It was "Goldfinger" (1964).

Answer: John Denver

"On monarch wings
And birthday wonderings.
Want to put on faces.
Walk in the wet and cold.
And look forward to my growing old.
To grow is to change.
To change is to be new.
To be new is to be young again.
I barely remember when
My memories are stolen by the morning."
Born Henry John Deutschendorf, Jr. in December 1943, John Denver was a singer and songwriter who, let it be said, divided opinions. He had a number of hit songs and attracted huge audiences to his concerts, but was never seen as 'cool' in certain music circles. His career earned him 12 gold and four platinum albums and 12 Number One singles. His many noted songs included "Leaving On A Jet Plane", "Take Me Home, Country Roads", "Annie's Song" and, of course "Rocky Mountain High" (written with Mike Taylor). Denver died when an experimental plane he was flying solo crashed into the Pacific Ocean in 1997.
Trivia note: None of the four mentioned was actually born in Colorado, though Denver lived there for many years.

A somewhat unkempt appearance made for some pretty notable images. He was also known for clever quips including: "Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.
