The Indus river is also known as the Sindhu. The name is a Latinized version of the term Hindu which itself was derived from Sindhu. Originating on the Tibetan plateau, the river makes its way through the Ladakh region of India before entering Pakistan.

The River Wye has been designated as a Special Area of Conservation due to being a breeding area for various species of fish.
6. The Murray is the longest river of which country?

The Yangtze is also one of the largest rivers in the world by volume of water carried and flooding of the river has caused widespread death and destruction at regular intervals in history. The Three Gorges Dam was constructed over a period of fourteen years and has become an important source of electricity for the country.
