Diamond Head is located in Honolulu, O'ahu. It was formed over 150,000 years ago. It has an elevation of 761 feet at its highest point and a diameter of 3,520 feet.

It was named Diamond Hill by British sailors in the early 1800s. They mistook the calcite crystals shining in the sun as diamonds. It was later renamed Diamond Head.

Diamond Head Lighthouse is located at the base of Diamond Head. The white, 55-foot tall building was built in 1917. In 1980, it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is run by the U.S. Coast Guard.
