The State Gemstone is the Star Garnet and can be found with both four rays and six rays. Idaho is one of only two areas in the world where you can find such quantities of Star Garnets.

Lake Pend Oreille, at 1,150 feet deep, is the thirteenth deepest lake in the world. It is the fifth deepest lake in the U.S.

Okay so it's more closely related to the zebra but the fossils of the Hagerman Horse are around 3.5 million years old so that predates the Spanish Conquistadors by quite a few years.
