Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Bondi Beach

Answer: Sydney, Australia

Bondi Beach takes its name from the Aboriginal word for "water breaking over the rocks". Located in the Sydney suburb of Bondi, the beach's proximity to the city has made it popular among the tourists. Each year in November, the Sculpture by the Sea exhibition is held here with artists from around the world invited to display their sculptures along the beach.
2. Ipanema Beach

Answer: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

This beach shot to global fame with the popularity of the song "The Girl from Ipanema" which won the Grammy for Record of the Year in 1965. The name itself did not refer to the beach originally but to the residence of the Baron of Ipanema. This makes sense as the name actually translates to 'stinky water' in the Tupi language. Not the best name for a beach!
3. Waikiki Beach

7. Calangute Beach

Answer: Goa, India

The state of Goa is found on the western coast of India and is popularly called the "Land of Beaches". Calangute is often considered the flagship beach of the state.
