The Duke of Northumberland's family, the Percys, have lived in Alnwick Castle since 1309. The castle is located in the town of Alnwick, 40 miles north of Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Holy Island lies just off the coast of Berwick-upon-Tweed and can only be reached by causeway at low tide. It was originally called Lindisfarne by the Anglo-Saxons, and renamed Holy Island by the monks of Durham after the island was attacked by Vikings in 793AD.

The Angel of the North has a wingspan of 175 feet - almost as big as a Jumbo Jet. It took five months to build and was completed in February 1998. It is believed to be the biggest angel sculpture in the world.
