Answer: Lebombo

The Kruger Park is roughly the size of Israel and has been around for over 100 years.
2. Mrs. Ples, a well-known hominid skull, was found at Sterkfontein cave. Which city is located nearest to Sterkfontein?

Answer: Johannesburg

Mrs. Ples belongs to the species Austrolopithecus africanus. When she was discovered, she was thought to be the oldest hominid to have existed. Subsequent finds have proved this to be incorrect.
3. 'Jock of the Bushveld' tells the story of a man and his dog, and their adventures as they travel between Delagoa Bay and where?

Answer: Pilgrim's Rest

'Jock of the Bushveld' is actually a true story with a heartwrenching end. Every South African should know of it.

Knysna is home to Oysters and the Garden Route. It is a very beautiful part of the world. Johannesburg is on the highveld and the vegetation is consistent with a savannah. Durban is right on the east coast, and it is very subtropical and humid.

Answer: Clanwilliam

Rooibos tea is a South African staple along with boerewors, pap, and sunny skies. Boerewors translated directly means 'farmers sausage'. It is similer to a bratwurst except darker and less processed. Pap means porridge and it consists of ground maize meal which is often eaten with 'sous'. Sous is a sauce made up of tomato and onion.

It only occurs naturally in the Swartberg which is near to Clanwilliam in the Western Cape.
6. In the 1980's, there were uprisings in many townships. One of these townships was Crossroads. Which airport is located near Crossroads?

Answer: Cape Town International

Although it was not the only township uprising (Soweto '76 was another), the Crossroads uprising was the first uprising in an area where many white South Africans went every day.
7. Many people know of South Africa's national animal, but what is our national flower?

Answer: King Protea

The Protea is our national flower, the Blue Crane our national bird, the Galjoen our national fish and the Springbok is our national animal. The National cricket team is known as the Proteas and the rugby team are the Springboks.
8. What is the name of the town once known as the 'ostrich capital of the world'?

Answer: Oudtshoorn

Oudtshoorn is almost halfway between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. It was the hub of the ostrich industry, and in particular the ostrich feather industry, in the late 1800's. You can still visit ostrich farms in the area and, depending on your weight, you can ride ostriches.
9. Dyer Island is home to the largest great white shark breeding ground in the world. Do you know the name of the nearest mainland town?

Answer: Gansbaai

Strangely enough, very few people have ever been attacked by a great white shark near Gansbaai.
10. In 2004, South Africa's president was Nelson Mandela?

Answer: No

Mandela was president from 1994-1999. He has lent his prison number '46664' to be used in an AIDS awareness charity.
