The Missouri state motto in Latin is "Salus Populi Suprema Lex Esto", meaning "Let the good of the people be the supreme law". The motto was adopted in 1822. The motto can also be translated as "Let the welfare of the people be the supreme law".
2. The Wright brothers built and flew the world's first successful airplane in this state.

Answer: North Carolina

The Wright brothers, Orville (1871-1948) and Wilbur (1867-1912), were inventors and aviators. They flew their aircraft on December 17, 1903 just south of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. The flight covered a distance of 852 ft. and lasted 59 seconds.
3. This state played host to the formal conclusion to a foreign war.

Answer: New Hampshire

The Russo-Japanese War came to an end in 1905. Both sides accepted Theodore Roosevelt (President of the United States) to be the mediator. The meetings were held in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and thus became known as the Treaty of Portsmouth. Roosevelt earned the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts in bringing the parties together to end the conflict.

The Territory of Wyoming gave women the right to vote in 1869. In 1890 it was the first state to grant women the right to vote prior to the 19th Amendment of 1920.

Saint Paul (St. Paul) is the capital city of Minnesota. However, the original settlement was known as "Pig's Eye" after Pierre "Pig's Eye" Parrant who had established a popular tavern at present day Lambert's Landing during the 1840s. It was Father Lucien who set up a chapel in the area and named it after his favorite saint, Saint Paul.

The Minnesota Territory named the settlement Saint Paul and it was incorporated as the capital city in 1854.

Montpelier is the state capital of Vermont. Montpelier was named after the French city of the same name mainly due to French assistance to the colonies during the American Revolution. Vermont gained statehood in 1791 and Montpelier became the in 1805.

The municipal population of Montpelier in 2010 was 7,855. Burlington was the state's largest city with a population of just over 42,000 in 2010.

Ronald Wilson Reagan was born in Tampico, Illinois on February 6, 1911. He served as the 33rd Governor of California from 1967-1975 and served as President of the United States from 1981-1989.

The American Revolutionary War started in 1775 and ended with the defeat of Lord Cornwallis's army at Yorktown, Virginia on October 19, 1781. The Treaty of Paris in 1783 officially ended the conflict.
10. This state had the first officially recorded baseball game in 1846.

Answer: New Jersey

In 1845, a group of men from New York formed the New York Knickerbocker Baseball Club but it was not until 1846 that there is an officially recorded baseball game. This was between the Knickerbockers and a New York Nine played at Elysian Fields, Hoboken, New Jersey on June 19, 1846. The Knickerbockers won 23-1.
