Saudi Arabia is the only nation to have coastlines along the Red Sea, Persian Gulf, and the Gulf of Aqaba. Of those three, The Red Sea on its west coast is by far the longest coastline, accounting for almost 2,000km or 1,200 miles in length.

King Fahd Causeway was completed in 1986, and it connected Saudi Arabia with its close friend in the region, the very tiny island of Bahrain. The causeway, which is 25km or 16 miles in length, was named after Saudi Arabia's fifth king, Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who ruled the kingdom from 1982 until his death in 2005.
