Answer: Durban and Pietermaritzburg

The Comrades Marathon, which began in 1921, is run between Durban and Pietermaritzburg. The length of the run is about 90km. The hardest parts of this run are called "The Big Five" which are hills along the route consisting of Cowies Hill, Botha's Hill, Field's Hill, Polly Shortts and Inchanga.
