1. Which of the following towns/cities has Tim Shadbolt been the mayor of?

Answer: Invercargill

Before coming to Invercargill, Shadbolt was previously the mayor of Waitemata city, ran for parliament in the 1994 Selwyn bi-election, and hosted an eccentric TV show in the 1980's.
2. Where would you find Cathedral Square?

Answer: Christchurch

Cathedral Square is named accordingly because of the Christchurch Cathedral, situated in the square, which is over 120 years old. The building was damaged severely in the 2011 earthquakes, and was slated for demolition.
3. Where would you find Molyneux Park?

Answer: Alexandra

Molyneux Park has been one of the home grounds of the Otago cricket team since the early 1990's.
4. Where is the longest road bridge in New Zealand?

Answer: Rakaia

The Auckland Harbour bridge is not the longest at 1.1 kilometres - the Rakaia bridge spans 1.8 kilometres over the Rakaia river in Mid-Canterbury.
5. What is the largest lake in the South Island?

Answer: Te Anau

Lake Te Anau covers over 186 square miles (300 square kilometres) and has 311 miles (500 kilometres) of uninhabited shoreline. Lake Taupo is, however, the largest lake in NZ.

Baldwin St is in the Guiness Book of Records for being the steepest street in the world - the incline is a short, sharp 38 degrees.

The Inangahua Earthquake measured 7.1 on the richter scale and preceded 15 aftershocks in the next 4 weeks at magnitude 5.0 and higher. Three people died in the scarcely populated area in the West Coast of the South Island.

Situated in the middle of the Octagon, the statue commemorates the famous Scottish bard.

Bryndwr is a Welsh name meaning 'on the brink of the water'. It is pronounced BRIND-WAH or in Welsh BRIND-URE.

The old town of Cromwell was covered by Lake Dunstan after the waters of the Clutha river were let through the Clyde dam in the 1980's. However, a new township was built (many metres higherup though!).

Trafalgar Park is situated in the centre of Nelson - the Central Stags can play home games in either island of NZ.

New Zealand's oldest raceway that is still currently used for the New Zealand Formula 3 championship - is reputedly the southern most racetrack in the world.
15. Which of the following cities does the soccer team 'HHH United' play in?

There is apparently an HHH team in Wellington also, playing in the minor leagues - but the legend of HHH originated in Dunedin in 1999 where a bunch of Varsity students were most famous for making the 3rd round of the Chatham Cup in 2001 in only their second year of competitive play.
