Allentown was founded in 1762 by William Allen. Allentown lies in mid-eastern Pennsylvania, north of Philadelphia.
2. During the Revolutionary War the Liberty Bell was hidden in what church in Allentown?

Answer: Zion's Reformed Church

After the Battle of Brandywine in 1777, it was ordered by the Supreme Executive Council of the Commonwealth of Pennslyvania, that in fear of the British melting them down to make weapons, eleven bells were to be hidden to prevent this from occuring. After numerous stops, the Liberty Bell was hidden in Zion's Reformed Church in Allentown while the British invaded the city of Philadelphia.

The Bell was returned to Philadelphia in June of 1778, after the British left Philadelphia.

Answer: Dorney Park

Dorney Park (later named Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom) opened in 1884. Dorney Park is one of the most popular amusement parks in the eastern United States. The oldest operating ride in the park today is the Whip. The park consists of nine roller coasters.

The Wildwater Kingdom section of the park also has eighteen water rides. It also has a log flume ride, Thunder Creek Mountain, which holds the record for the longest drop on a log flume ride.
6. What is the tallest building in Allentown?

Answer: The PP&L Building

The PP&L or Pennsylvania Power and Light Building was completed in 1928. It stands at 322 feet high, which is twice as high as the next tallest building in Allentown. When the PP&L building opened it had the fastest elevators in the world!

Answer: Northampton Town

It was changed to Allentown in 1838 because that is what people, including residents, had called it for years.
