Anatolian plateau that dominates the Eastern portion of the country. The climate was
continental in nature, meaning hot summers and cold winters, but the area was quite
suitable for agriculture and was well endowed with metals and timber.

The Hittites apparently intermingled with the Khattians, taking on much of their language
and culture. The Hittites also heavily borrowed from the nearby Hurrians, paying
particular interest in their gods.

The Pankush held a high degree of power early on in the Hittite
