1. What was Goebbels' full name?

Answer: Paul Joseph Goebbels

He was best known as Joseph Goebbels. He was born in the small industrial town of Rheydt, near Moenchengladbach, about fifteen miles west of Duesseldorf.
2. What year was he born?

Answer: 1897

He was 8 years younger than Hitler. He had two older brothers and two younger sisters. His father Fritz was a staunch Catholic who worked in the W. H. Lennartz wick factory.
3. What year did he die?

Answer: 1945

Goebbels and his wife both committed suicide on 1 May 1945, after killing their six children. In his last few weeks, he had his diaries photographed on to glass plates and carefully stored away as his memorial.
4. What physical impediment kept Goebbels out of WWI?

Answer: He had a club foot

He wore a metal brace on his leg to his death. His mother Katharina favoured him as a child because she had nearly lost her own life giving birth to him. The battle during pregnancy and childbirth is considered the reason Joseph was a sickly child.

He also attended the University of Bonn, the University of Wuerzburg and the University of Freiburg. It is said that his physical disabilities made Joseph even more determined to outshine is peers in academia.

"The Night of Broken Glass" was the pogrom of 9-10 November 1938, which in many places continued for some days. Over 7,000 Jewish businesses were destroyed, nearly 200 synagogues burned and 76 razed to the ground. Jews were beaten up in the streets and about 30,000 were sent to concentration camps.
8. What city was Goebbels appointed Gauleiter (Nazi District Leader) of in 1926?

Answer: Berlin

This was the same year that Goebbels joined the Nazi party and distinguished himself as an 'intellectual'. He did much to put the party on the map in Berlin, where it had previously been almost unknown.
9. Which Nazi newspaper did Goebbels found in 1927?

Answer: 'Der Angriff'

'Der Angriff' translates to "The Attack". He had previously written for the Cologne newspaper 'Westdeutsche Landeszeitung' as well as several other German newspapers.
10. What did he write his thesis on?

Answer: An obscure German romantic dramatist

The obscure German romantic dramatist was Wilhelm von Schutz. Goebbels dedicated most of his life to the Nazi party and has always been seen as one of Hitler's right-hand men.
