The Black Robed Regiment was the name the British gave the Partiotic clergymen. It was actually a derogatory name because of the black robes most clergy wore in that era. There was not a right named in the Declaration of Independence that had not been preached from the pulpits of American Churches prior to 1770.

Answer: Samuel Adams, John Hancock

Samuel Adams and John Hancock were staying with the preacher at that time. He rode to warn them to leave.

Ethan Allen and his Green Mountain Boys captured Fort Ticondaroga.

John Peter Gabriel Muhlenberg was a pastor. His statue stands in the Rotunda of the Capitol. He is famous for a sermon he preached from Ecclesiastes 3:1, "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven," Pastor Muhlenberg stepped down from his pulpit and said, "In the language of the Holy Writ, there is a time for all things. There is a time to preach and a time to fight. And now is the time to fight."

When he came to the "time to fight" he removed his robe and was wearing an Army uniform.
