1. Who built the Hanging Gardens of Babylon?

Answer: Nebuchadnezzar

These were one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. He built them for his wife Amytis to remind her of her homeland in Media. The prophet Daniel was called in to interpret his dream about a huge idol with clay feet. (Daniel 2:33-45)
2. Who founded the city of Agade (Akkad) and the Akkadian Dynasty.

Answer: Sargon the Great

The name Sargon means "the King is legitimate" He overthrew the King of Kish (Ur-Zababa) in a palace revolt and ruled for 56 years.

His father was Tiglath-Pileser III. After Shalmaneser died his crown was seized by Sargon II.

He is considered one of the most successful military commanders in world history. He claimed divine sanction for all his territorial ambitions. His royal palace was at Nimrud.

The son (Prince Zannanza) was killed on his way to her. Suppiluliuma was furious and sent his armies against Egypt's vassal states in Canaan and Northern Syria. Many of the prisoners that were brought back carried the plague which would eventually kill Suppiluliuma.

Answer: Gudea

Not from Lagash originally, he married Ninalla the daughter of the ruler (Urbaba) Lagash prospered under him. He built many irrigation channels and temples. Twenty-six statues of him still exist.
8. Was the first king of the Babylonian Empire with one of the earliest law codes.

Answer: Hammurabi

The 282 laws were carved on a large stele (now in the Louvre) Most of the laws were an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth with no provision for extenuating circumstances. The top of the stele shows Hammurabi getting the laws from the god of the sun and justice (Shamash). On the positive side, however, punishments were not allowed to exceed this principle.
9. An epic about him has survived. Who was he?

Answer: Gilgamesh

He was the 5th king of Uruk. Was 2/3 god 1/3 human. He goes on a quest for immortality after the death of his friend Enkidu. He never attained it.
10. Who was the first Mesopotamian king to claim divinity for himself?

Answer: Naram-Sin

You can tell a god-king by the horns on his crown. He was the grandson of Sargon the Great. After his death his kingdom fell to the Gutians.
