Answer: Francis Bartow

Gen. Bartow was killed on July 21,1861 at the Battle of First Manassas. He had been elected to the Confederate Congress, but resigned to join the CSA Army. In November 1861, the name of Cass County, Georgia was changed to Bartow County to honor him.
2. This general was wounded at Bristow Station, Virginia in October of 1863.

Answer: Carnot Posey

Gen. Posey had led his troops during the Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville campaigns. During a minor engagement at Bristow Station, he was wounded in the left thigh by a shell fragment. The wound was thought not to be mortal, but infection set in and he died in Charlottesville, Virginia in November of 1863.

When Gen. Ramseur was transferred to take command of another division, Gen. Pegram replaced him. He led his division during the Valley Campaign and then to Petersburg. In February 1865, when Gen. Lee's flank was attacked, his division and that of William Mahone fought off an attack at Hatcher's Run, where he was killed.

He led a division during Gen. Pickett's charge at Gettysburg. During the retreat from Gettysburg, he was mortally wounded at Falling Waters on July 14 while commanding his brigade. He was carried back to Virginia but died 3 days later.

As the second ranking general in the CSA, he was given command of the western theater of operations. After several battles in Tennessee he fell back to northern Mississippi. He moved against Gen. Grant in April 1862 at Shiloh. While directing frontline operations he was wounded in the leg. He didn't consider the wound serious and he bled to death.

After Gen. Taliaferro was wounded at Second Manassas, he was given command of the "Stonewall Division". During the battle of Sharpesburg, Gen. Starke was wounded three times and died of his wounds.

Gen. Pender's first battle as a major-general was Gettysburg. On the first day his division drove the Union troops from Seminary Ridge. On the second day, while riding down his line to order an assault on Cemetery Hill, he was struck by a shell fragment and mortally wounded. He was carried to Staunton, Virginia during the retreat. He died there July 18, 1863.

Gen. Cleburne was known as "Stonewall of the West". He was the CSA's highest-ranking foreign-born general. When Gen. Hood took his army back to Tennessee in the winter of 1864, Gen. Cleburne was at his place. He was killed at the battle of Franklin on November 30, 1864. He was one of six CSA generals killed at Franklin, Tennessee.

Gen. Polk was an ordained Episcopal bishop. His "Army of Mississippi" was called up to help protect Atlanta. In June 1864 during a conference with General's Johnston and Hardee, he was killed by a cannon ball.
