Answer: The Confederate States of America

The Confederate States of America seceded because they knew with Abraham Lincoln as president they would need to let their slaves go and their whole lives depended on these slaves.
2. Who was the president of the seceded states?

Answer: Jefferson Davis

Jefferson Davis was previously Secretary of War (1853-1857) and then Senator for Mississippi (1857-1861).

The Union won definitely because of Ulysses S. Grant winning wars in the West and because of William Tecumseh Sherman's march to the sea from Chattanooga. When he did do this march from the sea, he destroyed everything in his path.
