Dagwood Bumstead, in the comic strip "Blondie," used to create enormous sandwiches made from anything he could scrounge out of the refrigerator. A "Dagwood" has come to be synonymous with a sandwich that has everything but the kitchen sink in it, or as the dictionary says: "A thick sandwich with a variety of fillings, often of apparently incompatible foods."

Yeah, who cares how it's spelled, right? We just know it tastes fan-tastic.
Served on toasted rye bread and using either Thousand Island Dressing or Russian Dressing for lubrication, this sandwich slides right down the hatch. A cousin sandwich to the Reuben is the Rachel, which purportedly substitutes pastrami for the corned beef and coleslaw for the sauerkraut.

Humma humma humma... yes it was The King of Rock who craved it. He just loved his BPBB sammich. It is reported that he liked either the whole sandwich fried or at a minimum at least the bananas.

This sandwich, which originated in Cuba, is a pressed sandwich like the panini. In Cuba it is more commonly called a mixto. It was created around 1900 and remains popular today in Cuba and other areas such as Florida where there are substantial populations of Cuban immigrants. Besides the pork, ham and pickle it also usually includes Swiss cheese and mustard.

The muffuletta (pronounced moo-foo-let-ta) sandwich is named for the style of bread used, a Sicilian style sesame loaf that actually originated in New Orleans, as the sandwich did. The sandwich has various meats and cheeses, but the special ingredient is the olive salad, which includes chopped olives, celery, carrots, pickled cauliflower and lots of seasonings.

The banh mi is a Vietnamese sandwich--actually a whole group of sandwiches served on a baguette. While there are a number of different ingredients which can be used including chicken, cold cuts and even tofu, the most popular is the banh mi thit nuong which uses grilled pork.

This little known sandwich is served only around the St. Louis, Missouri area. Yes, I know it's called the St. Paul Sandwich. Allegedly it was concocted by a chef who grew up in St. Paul but lived in St. Louis and he named it as a tribute to his home town.

The sandwich basically consists of egg foo yung and some toppings on white bread. The Western or Denver Sandwich (two names for the same thing) is similar, consisting of an omelet on bread, but it would never have bean sprouts. The Saddle Sandwich is a figment of my fertile imagination.
