Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which place is a location on the board?

Answer: St. James Place

It is located in the orange section of the board. In a particular episode of "House, M.D.", they talk about St. James Place. Though there might be a St. Paul's Place, I haven't heard of it. Same with St. John's... In my research, I learned that there is a St. Andrew's Place in England, though it's a very small TOWN.
2. Which of the following is on one of the corners of the board?

Answer: Free Parking

New York and Connecticut Avenues aren't placed on any of the corners, but they're on the board. It is 200 dollars for passing go, NOT 100.
3. If you passed "Go" thirteen times throughout the course of your game, how much money would you have INCLUDING your start off money (without counting anything else that you might receive or spend)?

Answer: 4100 dollars

Passing "Go" thirteen times will get you 2600 dollars, plus the original 1500 dollars.
4. How much money do you have when the game starts?

Answer: 1500 dollars

The way you officially hand out money at the game is the following:
2 x 500
2 x 100
2 x 50
6 x 20
5 x 10
5 x 5
5 x 1
5. How many railroads have at least 5 syllables (counting the actual word "railroad" if necessary)?

Answer: 2

B&O railroad (5 syllables)
Short Line (2)
Pennsylvania railroad (6)
Reading railroad (4)

Syllables are a unit of organization for a sequence of speech sounds. The word "Syllables" has 3 syllables. "Syl-la-bles".
6. How much does it cost to get out of jail?

Answer: 50 dollars

Unless you have a get out of jail free card, you must pay 50 dollars if you do not roll doubles once in three turns.
7. How many spaces are on the board altogether?

Answer: 40

4 corners + 9 other squares per side(9*4+4) = 40 squares per board.
If you didn't have a board near you, you could have thought 1 corner+9 spaces to each side and figured out there were 40.
8. Which of these is not one of the pieces found in the ORIGINAL eight of the 1937 Monopoly game?

Answer: Wheelbarrow

The original eight tokens were the car, iron, thimble, shoe, top hat, purse, lantern and rocking horse. The last three of these only lasted until 1942, when they were replaced by the more familiar wheelbarrow, dog and horse with rider.
9. What color are the lowest value properties (on a current, post-2008 board)?

Answer: Brown

Mediterranean Avenue and Baltic Avenue are the two brown properties. They were purple up to 2008 but are brown now that Monopoly uses worldwide standardized colors for properties and the money bills. They are found at the beginning of the board.
10. What color are the highest value properties?

Answer: Dark blue

Park Place and Boardwalk are the two dark blue properties. They are found at the end of the board.
