Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Known for his stupidity and his tendency to be destroyed in many episodes of the TV series, "Beast Wars," Waspinator's toy figure includes a hand-held cannon and a changeable head. What type/size of toy is Waspinator described as?

Answer: Deluxe

The "Beast Wars'" figures come in 4 sizes - basic (smallest), deluxe, mega, and ultra (largest). Other figures which come in the deluxe-sizes are Cheetor, Tarantulus, and Rhinox.

The hand cannon of the Waspinator doubles as the sting/abdomen of the toy's beast form (a wasp). The cannon is able to launch missiles from it. The head of Waspinator's beast form splits into two and forms the chest region of the robot form.
2. One of the later Maximals to feature in the TV series, "Beast Wars," this figure transformed into robot form from a manta ray. It possessed many weapons, including a hand held cannon, a sword, and a chest which could fire powerful energy discs. Which "Beast Wars" figure is this?

Answer: Depth Charge

In the television series, Depth Charge was a Maximal Peace Marshall, whose sole purpose was to find, detain, and keep detained, the dangerous Protoform X, who was later known as Rampage. This task became an obsession, as the hunting of Protoform X took precedent over all other things, including the orders of Maximal boss, Optimus Primal.

The hand cannon possessed by the robot-form toy of Depth Charge doubled as a "cybershark" drone, and his sword doubled as his whip like tail whilst in his beast mode. The energy discs could be fired by Depth Charge in both his beast form and his robot form, distinguishing him from many of the other transformers figures. Depth Charge had a third mode - an "air-skimmer" mode.
3. This "Beast Wars" figure never appeared in the animated television series. However, this figure was a variation on the toy figure of Terrorsaur, who *did* appear in the TV series. What is the name of this basic toy?

Answer: Lazorbeak

Both Terrorsaur and Lazorbeak transformed into their robot forms from their beast mode, the pterodon. The main difference between the two toys is their coloration - Terrorsaur being coloured red, and Lazorbeak being purple. Also, they have different patterns on their back - Terrorsaur having a spotted pattern, whilst Lazorbeak is striped. A third toy which is similar in appearance to these is Fractyl, who is metallic blue in colour, with gold patterns.

All three are basic (small) toys and can transform simply by lifting the head of the pterodon. The only weapon possessed by this figure is a small hand cannon, which is unable to fire any missiles.
4. Which "Beast Wars" figure, one of the largest of the series, transformed from its beast mode, the gorilla, and featured numerous weapons and missiles?

Answer: Optimus Primal

Optimus Primal is perhaps the most famous of all of the transformers, both as the leader of the Maximals, and the ancestor of his namesake, Optimus Prime of the Autobots. He showed qualities of loyalty, righteousness, and acceptance in the TV series.

The Optimus Primal toy figure was in ultra size (the largest) and so takes several actions to transform it from its beast (gorilla) form into its robot form. Whilst the beast form is typically black, the robot form displays several white, red and blue patterns. The weapons possessed by this figure include cannons mounted on both shoulders and on the left wrist, all able to fire missiles, as well as two long swords.
5. This figure is one of the smallest "Beast Wars" toys (basic). It is a Predacon, is blue and green in coloration and exists as a beetle when in beast mode. Which figure is this?

Answer: Insecticon

This is one of the lesser known toys of the series, never having appeared in the animated TV show. Furthermore, it was claimed that the mould of the toy was damaged shortly after it was first released, meaning that it could not be reproduced. This makes Insecticon one of the rarest "Beast Wars" figures.

It was the second toy I ever had :) Insecticon is a basic toy and so is able to transform from beast mode into robot form in one simple movement. It comes with a gun similar in shape to a cross-bow.

This gun is in two halves, located in the abdomen of the beetle.
6. A basic "Beast Wars" figure is Airazor, the beast mode of which is the peregrine falcon. Like all "Beast Wars" toys, Airazor possesses a hologram which shows either the Maximal or Predacon symbol. Is Airazor a Maximal or a Predacon?

Answer: Maximal

Airazor is fairly unique in that she is female. However, it should be noted that in the original Japanese series Airazor was male. In the "Beast Wars" television series, Airazor had a close relationship with fellow Maximal, Tigatron, with whom she eventually combined with to form the transformer, Tigerhawk.

Originally, Airazor was a basic toy, but she was later reproduced in deluxe size. The original toy is yellow and brown in colour, includes a claw-shaped gun, and possesses movable wings.
7. This "Beast Wars" figure is fairly large (mega size). It is a Predacon and exists in its beast form as an ant. The toy features a large hand cannon, which can fire missiles, as well as a rotating abdomen, intended to display its ability of flight. Which transformer is this?

Answer: Inferno

In the "Beast Wars" television series, Inferno takes over from Scoponok as second in command in the Predacons. He is fiercely loyal to Megatron (a quality very rare amongst Predacons) and usually refers to Megatron as his "queen". The toy is mainly opaque and translucent red in colour.

The mandibles of the ant double as the large cannon held by Inferno whilst in his robot form. The seed shaped abdomen of the ant opens up when in robot form to expose a jet-pack device which allows flight (the toy cannot actually fly itself).
8. Prowl, Ironhide, and Silverbolt (not TV series version) are like any other transformers by themselves. However, when they combine, they can be used to form a larger figure. What is this figure known as?

Answer: Magnaboss

Prowl's beast form is a lion; Ironhide's is an elephant, and Silverbolt's an eagle. All are Maximals and so possess the Maximal hologram. When combined, the Maximal Magnaboss is created. Magnaboss is slightly larger than ultra figures (e.g. Optimus Primal) and is seen by many fans as one of the most important Maximals.

The torso is mainly made up of the body parts of Silverbolt and Prowl, whilst the arms and legs are mainly Ironhide. The large sword possessed by Magnaboss is made of part of all three transformers. Magnaboss never appeared in the animated television series, but many believe he was one of the Maximal elders, who were often referred to.
9. Mainly coloured blue and yellow whilst in robot form, this next "Beast Wars" figure was originally released in deluxe size. It came with two hand cannons, both of which were seen in the animated television series. What was the name of this figure?

Answer: Cheetor

As hinted in the question, Cheetor was one of the transformers who featured in the television series. Cheetor is a Maximal and he exists as a cheetah whilst in beast mode. He is the youngest of the Maximals and is often regarded as immature, but ambitious.

The figure of Cheetor was average in size (deluxe) and both the stomach and backside of Cheetor doubled as hand cannons whilst in his robot form. His stomach hand cannon was able to fire water when squeezed.
10. Although the original Megatron existed in his beast form as a T-rex, he was later released with an alternate beast form, so as to coincide with the events of the animated TV series, "Beast Wars". What was this alternate beast form?

Answer: A dragon

As shown in the animated television series, Megatron assumed his new form as a dragon after falling into a sea of lava as a result of Tarantulus' deception. Megtron is the leader of the Predacon alliance. He is determined to destroy his adversaries, the Maximals, and will seemingly stop at nothing to achieve this.

The original T-rex version of Megtron included a water-firing hand cannon, which doubled as the T-rex head whilst in beast form. The large T-rex tail was located on Megatron's left hand whilst in robot form. Finally, there were two cannons, located on Megatron's thighs which were able to fire missiles.
