A detective player begins with the following tickets: ten for taxis, eight for buses, and four for the Underground. Mr. X has an unlimited number of tickets, including five black tickets which act like wild cards.

White and Black are the two other gem colors in Splendor.

It can help new players to remember that the card that is wild in a round is always the same as the number of cards in your hand at the start of the round. Kings have a value of thirteen in the game.
