Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which company originally produced Robo Rally?

Answer: Wizards of the Coast

The original Robo Rally and all of its expansions were produced by Wizards from 1994 until 1999 when the company was sold to Hasbro who discontinued the game. Later in 2005, the game rights were sold to Avalon Hill who has made their own version of the game.
2. Who came up with the original design for the Robo Rally game?

Answer: Richard Garfield

Though it was produced in 1994, Garfield originally came up with the design in 1985. Garfield is more famous for creating the Magic: The Gathering card game. He also has a few lesser known works. Garfield works as a professor of mathematics.
3. Which of the following is not a robot you can play with in Robo Rally?

Answer: Twitchy Bot

There is a bot named Twitch, but not Twitchy Bot. The complete list is Zoom Bot, Squash Bot, Trundle Bot, Spin Bot, Twonky, Hulk X90, Twitch, and Hammer Bot.
4. Despite being painted on the back of the box, all robots come unpainted.

Answer: True

Yep, all robots come in a simple metal color. There is fine print on the bottom of the box reading "The miniatures shown have been expertly painted. Miniatures are supplied unpainted."
5. Which of the following is not a name of an expansion pack for Robo Rally?

Answer: Blood and Guts

The expansion packs are Armed and Dangerous (which comes with 6 boards and extra game pieces), Crash and Burn (2 boards), Grand Prix (3 double-sided boards), and Radioactive (3 boards). There was also a promotional board given out at a tournament.
6. Which of the following cards will always have the lowest priority?

Answer: U Turn

The priority of a card is the small number at the top of the card. This determines which card will move first (in cases of pushing robots). The U turn is always the lowest and therefore always last. A U turn's priority will always be between 10 and 60.
7. Which board has the most radiation and radioactive waste?

Answer: Reactor Core

Reactor Core comes from the Radioactive expansion pack. It looks like a small reactor surrounded entirely by radiation and radioactive waste. There are only 10 normal factory squares on the entire board. This makes it very difficult to get across without receiving lots of damage (and maybe a few option cards).
8. Which one of the following board elements does not exist on any official board?

Answer: Typhoon

Randomizers are found on the map "Gear Box." One-way walls can be found on Radioactive boards. Chop shops are found on several boards including ones from the Grand Prix and Radioactive sets. On the "Flood Zone" board there are water, drains, and currents but nothing called a typhoon.
9. Which option card has the ability to deliver the most damage?

Answer: The Big One

There's no trick question here. The Big One delivers 64 points of damage wherever it explodes. The next powerful item is actually the self destruct which does 16 points of damage. Each buzz bomb can only deliver 4 points of damage (there are a total of 3). The big gun does two damage and the mini howitzer only does one damage.
10. Finally one bit of obscure trivia. What is written on the grenade in the picture for the option card, Self Destruct?

Answer: Let There Be Light

This option card is found in the expansion deck that comes with the Armed and Dangerous set. It can be programmed in the robot's program and will blow up for 16 points of damage on your robot and damage any others nearby.
