Answer: The Official Scrabble Players' Dictionary

To determine which words were acceptable, a dictionary specifically designed for Scrabble was originally published in 1975. The Official Scrabble Players' Dictionary is American. It was most recently updated in 2006.
2. The sum of all the letter tiles in a word is doubled when this square is covered. What is written on this square?

Answer: Double word score

The color of the double score square is pink. Often this is a sought out square for making higher scores on the Scrabble board.
3. Many Scrabble players prefer to play a higher scoring word. How many points are the letter tiles of the word 'quiz' worth, when it is placed on the double word score star in the middle of the board?

Answer: 44 points

The 'Q' and 'Z' are both worth ten points each. The 'U' and 'I' are both worth one point each. The letter tiles of the word is worth 22 points, but when the word is doubled it counts as 44 points total.

Answer: playing shorter words

Usually when playing Scrabble, it may be to your advantage to play long words on bonus squares. Adding letters to a word can also be a way of earning more points. In addition, by playing words parallel to words on the board can also make for higher scores. Therefore, playing shorter words, just to play a word, is probably a lesser point scoring method in this game.
