Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Hotspot

Answer: Dog

Hotspot was a Dalmatian dog, who came wearing firefighting gear. He came with an axe and a fire hydrant as his accessories. At the time of its release the figure was not widely sought after, and as such became a highly valued item on the collector's market 20 years later.
2. Ray Fillet

Answer: Manta Ray

Ray Fillet was a villain in the worst way in the animated "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" show. He would recruit test subjects for his master, an evil scientist. The action figure came with a secondary character, "Fish Stix", who was for some reason already breaded and ready to be eaten. He was featured in the episode "Rebel Without a Fin" of the series.
3. Walkabout

Answer: Kangaroo

Complete with a boomerang, this character, who never appeared in the TV series, was straight from the Australian outback. According to his bio card on the toy packaging he was tired of hunting crocodiles, so he moved to America and befriended the Turtles.
4. Wingnut

Answer: Vampire Bat

Wingnut and Screwloose (a mosquito) always appeared together, in toy and animated form. Wingnut was the action figure, complete with detachable wings, while Screwloose was a small hunk of plastic packaged with him instead of an extra accessory. They appeared in multiple episodes of the animated series as well.
5. Ace

Answer: Duck

Ace the duck was a combination of a duck and a pilot who were accidentally mutated together while being transported to Dimension X, according to the bio card on the box.

The duck, by mutating, avoided having the evil Shredder and Kraang eat its brain. He became an ally of the Turtles.
6. Halfcourt

Answer: Giraffe

This toy was a typical stereotype. A mutated giraffe (super tall) was recruited to play basketball. Ho hum, seems like the norm with this figure line. The character however was a totally good fighter according to his bio on the card. He came with a secondary character, Ruff the Ref, a mutated flamingo, and a gun among other accessories.
7. Sandstorm

Answer: Camel

Sandstorm was a camel which walked on its hind legs and wore a fez. He came packaged with a magic carpet, a gun and a giant sword. The character bio used the word "hump" several times as a way to play up the camel factor.
8. Scratch

Answer: Cat

Scratch was a "cat burglar" that came wearing a jail suit. The toy was very common in the mid 1990s, and few people bought it, making it rare on the secondary market for collectors more than 20 years later. Packaged figures with the weapons have gone for more than $2,500 at auction.
9. Rocksteady

Answer: Rhinocerous

There were more than a dozen variations of both Bebop (A warthog) and Rocksteady toys made as they were the Shredder's and Kraang's most common henchmen in the toy line and in the animated TV series.

Rocksteady and Bebop were simply street criminals when they were recruited to be turned into mutants. However that didn't help their near uselessness as they both often botched assignments.
10. Monty

Answer: Moose

Monty was a mutated moose who served as a Canadian Mounted Police Officer prior to his strange mutation. Monty was packaged with his sidekick, a beaver, that had been mutated with him. The beaver's name was Bob.
