Zeus is, among other things, the god of thunder. Zeus is also the god of the sky and the storm and that is why he is the god of thunder. He is the leader of the Greek gods and ruled from his abode in Olympus. His son Hephaestus is the maker of the thunderbolts, Poseidon, his brother, is the ruler of the sea and Prometheus is the Titan that gave the fire to mankind.
