1. How do rabbits like their beer?

Answer: With plenty of hops

Rabbits hop. Beer is made from hops. Hops are a vine that are 'twiddled' onto a string attached to poles and grow to form a 'bine'. The cone-like flowers are green and quite papery. In Kent in the UK, large quantities of hops were grown for the beer industry. Each summer up to the 20th Century, families would arrive for 'hop picking holidays'.

The farmers would provide huts for them to stay in whilst they helped to bring in the harvest.
2. What do fame-seeking citrus drinks like to be in?

Answer: The limelight

Lime is a citrus fruit. 'Being in the Limelight' is to be the centre of attention. Limelight was a form of calcium light that was used to illuminate stages in theatres.
3. Where should you lock your wine?

Answer: In a Cabernet

Cabernet, pronounced with a silent 't', is a type of red wine. If you say it with a non silent 't' it sounds very similar to 'Cabinet', a cupboard you could use to store wine.
4. What sort of fortified wine do sea captains love?

Answer: Port

Port is a fortified wine, which can be red, tawny or white. Port is also where sea captains would go to 'park' their ships! Port originates from Portugal in Europe. Wines made from grapes are 'fortified' by the addition of a spirit like brandy, to create a strong, sweet, alcoholic drink.

Sherry, Madeira and Malmsey are other examples of fortified wines.
5. Would you like to take a GUESS as to which slightly-misnamed cocktail I am drinking?

Answer: Tequila Surmise

'Surmise' is a synonym of 'guess'. A 'Tequila Surmise' is a slightly misnamed Tequila Sunrise, a cocktail containing tequila, Grenadine and orange juice. As the liquids have different densities they each form layers, and resemble a sunrise.

The other cocktails are properly named Bloody Mary, Rusty Nail and Harvey Wallbanger.
6. Where do witches bake their cakes?

Answer: In a coven

A group of witches is a 'coven', Cakes are usually cooked in an oven.
7. Why must I eat cold dessert quietly during the week?

8. "Why would you like to see my collection of Candy Canes?" Which of these answers provides a suitably punny reason?

Answer: They are all in mint condition

Candy canes are cane shaped, mint flavoured, pieces of candy that are often hung on Christmas trees. People talk about items in collections as being in 'mint condition', meaning they look like they are brand new. A factory that makes coins is a mint - so a newly 'minted' coin is in 'mint condition'
