Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I was the king of Dumnonia, although my father, Erbin, was only a sheep herd.

Answer: Sir Geraint

Sir Geraint is thought to have lived either shortly before or during King Arthur's reign if, indeed, he lived at all - there is some debate. He had a wife, Enid.
2. My brother is Sir Lucan, and I am commonly associated with Sir Kay. I returned Excalibur to the Lady in the Lake.

Answer: Sir Bedivere

Sir Bedivere is one of the first knights associated with King Arthur, and the returner of the 'Sword in the Stone' to its rightful owner. According to Welsh legend he has two children, Amren and Eneuawc.
3. I am the son of Pellinore and have an affair with Morgause.

Answer: Sir Lamorak

Sir Lamorak's family was complicated, and was involved in a blood feud with Lot's family - but despite this Sir Lamorak still had amorous encounters with Lot's widow, Morgause.
4. My nicknames include "le Desirous" and "The Impetuous".

Answer: Sir Sagramore

Sir Sagramore is one of the most prolific knights, appearing in many of the books. He is also the son of the king of Hungary.
5. I am King Arthur's illegitimate son.

Answer: Sir Mordred

Sir Mordred is now commonly thought to be King Arthur's illegitimate son by his half sister, Morgause (who had an affair with Sir Lamorak). He was a traitor, who fought his father at the Battle of Camlann.
6. I am one of the most famous Knights of the Round Table - not least because I fell in love with King Arthur's wife, Guinevere.

Answer: Sir Lancelot

Sir Lancelot was involved in the search for the Holy Grail, despite his dubious loyalty to the King, though thanks to his earlier indiscretions he is allowed only to see the Grail.
7. I was thought to be only a lowly kitchen boy, though I was, in fact, King Arthur's nephew.

Answer: Sir Gareth

Sir Gareth, when he arrived at the palace, was set to work as a kitchen boy and constantly degraded by Kay. Later, he marries Lyonesse.
8. I am one of the first Knights of the Round Table, though before I am anointed I am only a squire.

Answer: Sir Griflet

Sir Griflet is one of King Arthur's first allies. He is the son of Do (sometimes Don) and cousin to Sir Lucan and Sir Bedivere.
9. I am King of the Isles and have a spell cast on me by Merlin.

Answer: King Pellinore

Merlin enchants King Pellinore in order to protect King Arthur. Some of his sons - Aglovale, Lamorak, Tor, Percival, Dornal - eventually join the Round Table as well.
10. I am King Arthur's brother and try to take the credit for pulling out the Sword of the Stone.

Answer: Sir Kay

Sir Kay is King Arthur's adopted brother. He breaks his own sword in a joust, and so Arthur goes to retrieve another for him - the Sword in the Stone. Arthur doesn't realise its importance at first, and Sir Kay tries to take the credit, but he soon relents so that Arthur can become King of the Britons.
