Uncle Fester (Kevin Chamberlain) confesses his love for the moon and Granny (Jackie Hoffman) confesses that she feels useless because of her age but hopes to pass her wisdom on to her grandchildren.

This scene is the final one of the first act. At the end of the song, Mrs. Beineke (Carolee Carmello) accidentally drinks the acrimonium Pugsley meant for Wednesday and confesses that she is upset that her husband (Terrence Mann) is not romantic anymore. Acrimonium is a potion Granny concocted that exposes a person's darker side.

Those words are sung by Fester to the ancestors when they claim Lucas is not right for Wednesday. The line "Were you folks right for the mezzanine?" is often replaced in different productions, especially off Broadway, to reflect something current.
