The show opens as Marguerite is giving her last performance at the Comedie Francaise. She sings the fabulous number 'Storybook' that is reprised during the second act.

'You are My Home' is now sung during the wedding scene, but was originally written for Marguerite and Armand. 'Only Love' was a solo for Marguerite during the origianl run of the show, and 'She was There' is sung by Percy after he finds out that Marguerite has been the same all along and never betrayed him.

It is after this evening that he decides to go to Paris and save other innocent Parisians from the guillotine.
9. How does Marguerite disguise herself?

Answer: As a prostitute

Marguerite, unsure of the Pimpernel's reply to her plea to save her brother, disguises herself as a prostitute and goes to a Parisian bistro to try to cajole information out of the soldiers and policemen there. She reprises 'Storybook' and is caught by Chauvelin for espionage, and thrown into jail with her brother.

Here, she sings 'I'll Forget You', a poignant ballad where she tries to convince herself that she will forget any memories of her husband and that she never really loved him.
10. What Biblical character does Percy allude to in the beginning of 'Into the Fire'?

Answer: David

'Into the Fire' begins with Percy telling the tale of David and Golliath to try to inspire his men to join him in his crusade to save Parisians from the guillotine.
