Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many gates of Death are there?

Answer: 9

There are nine precincts each which are followed by a gate. With each gate you pass the further you go into Death. You can visit Death when it is needed but once you go past the ninth gate you are gone forever, never to return to Life.
2. Once you enter Death you find yourself in the First Precinct. What is the most dangerous about the First Precinct?

Answer: strong currents

Although the water is not deep in the First Precinct the current is very strong. If you do not have courage the river will tempt you to lie down and let the currents take you under.
3. Now you've made it through the First Precinct and you must pass the First Gate. The gate is a waterfall concealed by a wall of mist. How do you go about passing the gate?

Answer: speak a Free Magic spell that parts the waterfall making a path

Speaking a Free Magic spell will part the mist and waterfall creating a path. The path seems as if it is a road between two liquid mountains. After you cross through the gate the waterfall becomes normal again.
4. After leaving the First Gate you come to the Second Precinct. This portion of Death is very misty and blurry resulting in poor eyesight. Aside from the mist and the current what do you have to worry about in this particular area?

Answer: deep holes

There is any easy path to follow, past all the holes. If you fall in the holes....that's something you wouldn't want to happen. You would be lost in the current in a big hole and you would probably rush through the next gate and deeper into Death.
5. The Second Gate is like a big whirlpool of water that sucks you in. Using the same method as the First Gate you can cross this danger. In the Third Precinct the river is shallow and there is hardly any current to pull you in. It may seem like a good place to rest but looks can be deceiving. Why must you be cautious in this Precinct?

Answer: waves

As soon as you enter the Third Precinct you must run at full speed. The waves can push you under the water if you don't reach the Third Gate before they hit you.
6. As you reach the Third Gate at a run you yell out the correct spell to part the waterfall. After passing the gate you find yourself in the Fourth Precinct. This portion of Death is relatively safe. What is the only thing that bothers you in the Fourth Precinct?

Answer: the current

Usually by the Fourth Precinct a necromancer gets used to the cold current of the river. This would be the place to rest although no one really wants to stay in Death for a long amount of time. Most people who travel into Death are there on urgent matters so they don't have time to spare.
7. The path through the Fourth Gate stretches all the way through the Fifth Precinct. Why can't you cross the Fifth Precinct without using the path?

Answer: deep water

Even if you could walk through the Fifth Precinct you wouldn't want to. All necromancers who spend time in that water find their bodies altered mentally and physically when they return to Life. Sometimes Dead who reside in the Fifth Precinct try to climb onto the path that necromancers make, hoping to get back to Life.
8. What is unique about the Fifth Gate?

Answer: it is a waterfall going up

The only way to pass it is by falling upwards. Travelling with the current takes you up the waterfall into the Sixth Precinct. Most people find it disturbing because it is nothing like normal gravity.
9. The Sixth Precinct is a shallow part of Death with no current at all. Why is this place dangerous?

Answer: many Dead lurk in the mist

Most Dead here are mindless and they just hope that someone will push them farther into Death. There is a chance that you will run into a Greater Dead. They are fierce and struggle to get back to Life.
10. Now you've reached the Sixth Gate. What is odd about the Sixth Gate?

Answer: it is always in a different spot

The Sixth Gate opens randomly from time to time. It can be opened at a certain distance from the Fifth Gate but you usually don't know where.
11. The Seventh Precinct isn't particuarly dangerous but you should always be wary as you should always be while in Death. What is the Seventh Gate?

Answer: a line of fire

The Seventh Gate is the first of the three gates that mark the deep reaches of Death. As before you must speak the proper spell to part the fire.
12. What is the main threat in the Eighth Precinct?

Answer: patches of flame

The patches of flame move of their own accord. They don't follow the current and fire bursts up when you least expect it. This fire is very strange beacause it doesn't give off any smoke.
13. You are almost at the end of Death now. What is the Eighth Gate?

Answer: a wall of darkness

When you pass through all light vanishes. You can't use any of your senses but if you come prepared you'll expect it. Of course a spell will get you through the darkness.
14. You've reached the Ninth Precinct. This place is different than any other portion of Death. What do you see if you look up?

Answer: stars

The Ninth Gate calls all who venture into the Ninth Precinct. If you look up at the stars you will be drawn by its power, possibly to be never seen again.
15. All those who look upward at the Ninth Gate are lost forever.

Answer: false

Only those whose time has come go through the Ninth Gate. When your time has come you will drift upwards, drawn in by the stars. Those who having been struggling to live for years and have done many bad things should not venture into the Ninth Precinct. Make your decisions wisely or all will be lost.
