It was Darren who said that. It was R.V. that he was talking to and he accused Darren of being a monster after he killed an animal then threw it at R.V.

It was the wolf man. R.V. let him out because he thought that it was wrong to keep the animal caged up. After he let the animal out, it bit off R.V.'s arms.

Evra does not die, he lives on for at least the tenth book. *sorry spoiler*
