Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Chapter 11: The numbers on the first line of the code left by Jacques Sauniere were as follows: 13-3-2-21-1-1-8-5. Sophie rearranged the numbers to create which famous mathematical sequence?

Answer: Fibonacci sequence

Later the very same numbers became the code for Sauniere's account at the Depository Bank of Zurich.

Answer: Robert

Sophie showed Langdon that he was indeed the murder suspect and was being tracked by the DCPJ using a GPS tracking dot, which was hidden in his left jacket pocket.
3. Chapter 13: The last line of code read "P.S. Find Robert Langdon". What does P.S. stand for?

Answer: Sophie Neveu's assumed name

Sophie has a name known only by her grandfather who told her that all granddaughters have secret initials that only their grandfathers know. Sophie's was P.S. - Princess Sophie. The police mistook the information and assumed that Robert was the killer.
4. Chapter 14: DCPJ put a GPS tracking dot on Langdon. How long was he in the restroom before it appeared he jumped out the window?

Answer: 10 min

Actually Langdon didn't leap out the window but the police going only by the tracking dot didn't know this, at least not in this chapter. Incidentally Sophie took the dot pressed it into a bar of soap and threw it out the window into the back of a delivery van. While the dot went flying Langdon and Sophie took refuge in the now empty Grand Gallery.
5. Chapter 15: "The measure of your faith is the measure of the pain you can endure." Who told Silas this?

Answer: The Teacher

Opus Dei is a Catholic sect that uses pain to represent love for God. To show love for the Lord men must wear their cilice, a barbed belt for their leg, for at least two hours a day.
6. Chapter 16: Sophie had seen her grandfather engaged in something she was not to see. After this she forbade her grandfather to do what?

Answer: call or meet her in public

Sophie forbade Jacques to call or meet with her in public; however, he sent her numerous letters. Ten years' worth of unanswered letters were stuffed away unopened in a drawer somewhere.
7. Chapter 17: The Departement de Cryptographie had a shorter name that was used by Collet. Which of the following was it?

Answer: Crypto

"Why did Crypto call?" Collet now ventured.
Fache turned. "To tell us they found no references to Draconian devils and lame saints."
8. Chapter 18: Sophie Neveu throws the GPS tracking dot out the window. What did the dot land in/on that the police chased after mistakenly?

Answer: Trailor Truck

"'Congratulations' Sophie said, dragging him toward the door. 'You just escaped from the Louvre.'"
9. Chapter 19: Sister Sandrine accompanies Silas into the Church of Saint-Sulpice. To what does he compare the arched ceiling?

Answer: an enormous overturned ship

Although Silas seemed trustworthy, Sister Sandrine stayed hidden in the choir balcony above wondering if this was the enemy she was warned about.
10. Chapter 20: "O, Draconian devil! Oh, lame saint!" This is a perfect anagram of which of the following?

Answer: Leonardo DaVinci The Mona Lisa

" 'The scrambled Fibonacci sequence is a clue,' Langdon said taking the printout. 'The numbers are a hint as to how to decipher the rest of the message. He wrote the sequence out of order to tell us to apply the same concept to the text. O, Draconian devil? Oh lame saint? Those lines mean nothing. They are simply letters written out of order.' "
