Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who had a meeting with a devil in the book's Prologue?

Answer: Copley Carmichael

Copley, a once successful New Orleans lumber tycoon, and his bodyguard Tyrese met with a devil to make a deal. They met at a crossroads (deemed traditional and reminiscent of the TV series "Supernatural") in January. The pair traded their souls for a wish granted. Since Copley brought Tyrese along, the devil allowed him a bonus wish. Copley first wanted his former success returned.

The second wish he wanted to think about, and would cash in later. Tyrese wanted a particular woman to fall in love with him, though Copley and the devil thought it a foolish waste of a wish. Copley waited until June before he asked the devil to locate the cluviel dor.

He wanted to use it to get his daughter Amelia back. Of course, he had no way of knowing Sookie had already used the magical item to bring Sam back to life.
2. Who did Johan Glassport have released from prison?

Answer: Arlene Fowler

Johan was often described as being "medium" in appearance. But, Sookie knew that he was an amoral lawyer she'd met at the vampire summit back in "All Together Daed". That was the same gathering that ended in a bombing disaster. Arlene was released from prison on a huge bail.

She was instructed to have one conversation with Sookie, and afterward all of her financial woes would be erased. That was not exactly how it worked out.
3. What did Sam discover in the Dumpster at Merlotte's?

Answer: Arlene's body

Arlene had been strangled and dumped into the trash bin outside of the bar, and Sam found her. She had Sookie's scarf around her neck. Johan Glassport had arranged both for Arlene to steal that scarf from Sookie's home, and for Alcee Beck to become obsessed with Sookie being arrested.

She was arrested for Arlene's murder, but Eric paid her $30,000 bail. She and Eric had just had a vampire divorce the evening before, so his assistance surprised Sookie. Eric had his daytime man, Mustapha Khan, attend the hearing and pay the bail.

It turned out that Sam had to ask for the money, and Eric forced Sam into agreeing not to pursue romance with Sookie. Sookie found a way to solve that problem. And, Alcee's hex was removed at the end of the novel when the magical item was burned.
4. Which of these people was NOT one to arrive a Sookie's house with Desmond Cataliades?

Answer: Lorena

Lorena, Bill's maker, was long dead at the hands of Sookie at this point. She'd had to kill Lorena to save herself many books back. But the demon lawyer (and Godfather to Sookie) Desmond Cataliades came to have a talk with Sookie about information that was worrying him.

He brought the ever-hyper Diantha, along with Amelia and her boyfriend Bob. Amelia and Sookie had been slowly mending their friendship via emails up to this point. Desmond brought fellow telepath Barry with him as well. Barry was also the man's grandson, though Barry was unaware of this. Sookie and Barry had both received their "gift" of telepathy from Desmond.
5. Sookie revealed to Amelia that Amelia was expecting a baby.

Answer: True

It was very early into the pregnancy, so Amelia had been unaware. Sookie did not realize this when she spoke of it. Amelia was shocked, but Barry confirmed the baby as well. After a few moments alone, Amelia and Bob adjusted and said they were happy about the news.
6. Who instructed Karin to spend time in the woods around Sookie's house in order to provide Sookie with some protection?

Answer: Eric

Karin was Eric's first child. He'd made only her and Pam into vampires during his long un-life. She was another strong blonde woman, which seemed to be his very type. Karin first visited with Bill to learn a lot about Sookie. Bill warned Sookie about this, as he was at first wary about Karin's interest. Karin did protect Sookie, and ended up delivering her a very special gift left hidden inside the vampire cubby hole.

It was Copley Carmichael. He was soulless and therefore could not be glamoured.

He was not killed, but his final condition was left unknown.
7. What very distinctive scent did Quinn pick up in the areas just around Sookie's house?

Answer: Fairy/Fae scent

Quinn found out about Sookie's ongoing issues with being a murder suspect, and wanted to help her out. He came and offered help, and proceeded to smell the woods around her house. He inhaled the unique and compelling odor of a fairy. He said the scent of Fae was not one to be confused with another. He was correct in his findings.
8. Who shot Sookie?

Answer: Tyrese Marley

Tyrese's deal with the devil did not work out for him, much as Copley and the devil had expected. His heart's desire, Gypsy, did fall in love with him. Unfortunately, she also infected him with HIV. Upon realizing this, she committed suicide by hanging herself.

This sent Tyrese over the edge, and since he was dealing with a perceived death sentence, he went after his revenge on Sookie. When he arrived at her house, she was not there, so Bob took the first bullet from Tyrese and almost died. The next time he fired, when Sookie got home, he hit her in the shoulder. Mustapha Khan saved her, by pushing her down and falling over her. And then his very good friend Warren pulled out a huge handgun and ended Tyrese. Warren had been kidnapped and tortured by Jannalynn in the previous novel.
9. The person who'd hired Johan Glassport and Steve Newlin to set Sookie up for murder was her very own fairy cousin Claude.

Answer: True

Sookie's grandfather, Niall, had allowed Claude to escape Faery in order to bring down even more traitors, but he'd kept and tortured Claude for a very long while before that could happen. Claude's once beautiful face had been badly scarred, and Niall thought being unattractive and trapped in the human world was yet another wonderful form of torture for him. Claude wanted revenge on his cousin for turning him over to Niall, and, he admitted, for not wanting to become his lover. Weird! He hired Johan to get Arlene released, with the ever vengeful ex-con preacher Steve Newlin working as a great co-conspirator with Johan. Claude promised to reward them for their help by handing over Hunter. Claude, Johan and Steve all died after kidnapping Sookie from a dance club. One of them confessed to Arlene's murder before he died.
10. Which of these was NOT true by the end of this final Sookie Stackhouse novel?

Answer: Sookie was dead

Thank you Charlaine Harris for giving Sookie the ending she'd earned. Sookie had used the cluviel dor to save Sam, and was not able to use it change Eric's destiny. She later found out he'd considered changing her into a vampire without her consent, and realized that had truly been his plan all along.

The last of her feelings for him began to die in those moments. He agreed to conditions with his new wife Freyda that he'd never be alone with Sookie again; he'd stay married to her for 200 years instead of the usual 100 year marriage contract; Sookie was banned forever from Oklahoma, but no vampire could ever harm or use her for her whole life; and Karin would be her protector for one full year. Sookie and Sam agreed to take their new relationship a bit slow, but both of them were very pleased to be together at last. Now, if only "True Blood" might end with as much grace.
