1. What time period does Claire Randall get transported to?

Answer: The 1700's

The book begins in 1945, and then Claire winds up in Scotland in the year 1743.

2. How does Claire get transported through time?

Answer: She walks into an ancient Druid stone circle

Claire accidently walks into a stone circle. She feels as if she is being torn apart and faints. When she comes to, she realizes that things look a lot different.

3. What is the name of the husband that Claire leaves behind in 1945?

Answer: Frank

Jamie becomes her husband in the past. Is it adultery she wonders, if Frank hasn't been born yet? This is a dilemma she faces through most of the first book.

4. True or False: Claire eventually comes back to the 20th century.

Answer: True

Claire comes back because she is pregnant and she and Jamie both believe that he is going to be killed at the Battle of Culloden. When she gets back it is 1948 and she is five months pregnant. Frank never believes her time-travel story.

Answer: True

Frank raises Jamie and Claire's child as his own, but their marriage is unstable and Frank cheats on her all the time. In the 1960's, after Frank death, Claire learns that Jamie did not die at Culloden and decides to be with him again...

Before Jamie sends Claire back in time, he asks her to name the baby after his father, Brian. Since she has a girl, she names her Brianna.

Jamie marries the horrible Loaghaire so she will not lose her land. He also has a child out of wed-lock with Geneva. This is a bone of contention between he and Claire, but she WAS gone for twenty years! The poor guy wasn't a monk after all. :-)

8. Who is Claire's nemesis throughout time?

Answer: Geillis Duncan

Claire meets Gellis (Geilie) in the 1700's and finds out that she is from 1969. They meet in different eras in the first three books.

9. In 'Drums of Autumn', where have Claire and Jamie settled?

Answer: Colonial America

Claire and Jamie settle in North Carolina. This is while America was still a British Colony, so I'm sure the next book in the series will deal with the Revolutionary War.

10. True or False: Brianna never gets to meet her biological father Jamie.

Answer: False

Brianna goes back in time through the stones when she learns through an old article that Claire and Jamie are supposed to die in a house fire in the 1770's. She goes back to try and change this. Although Frank raised her, she is thrilled to meet and know Jamie.
