Sickert claims that Prince Eddy is his younger brother when they visit Annie at the sweet shop. Prince Eddy is immediately attracted to Annie, and of course their pairing eventually leads to the Whitechapel Murders. The implication is that Sickert and Prince Eddy are visiting the sweet shop because it was on the same street as the male brothel that they frequented.

He thinks she has his mother's eyes. Prince Eddy's mother is Princess Alexandra, wife of Queen Victoria's son, Albert. Sickert finds it amusing that he would fall for the first shop-girl he meets, and puts it down to his sheltered life.

Mary doesn't realise who Prince Eddy is, she thinks he is Sickert's younger brother, Albert. She drops a hint about it when Sickert is painting her, saying that there is more of Annie to see as of late, but when Sickert doesn't seem to understand, Mary tells him Annie is at least six months pregnant.

Sickert goes to visit Annie in hospital after she gives birth. The lady on reception thinks he is the father, and that he's denying it. As he walks away, she crosses out the boxes for father's name and occupation.

The fourth girder says "God is Good". We can see these girders in a long-shot of the hospital when Sickert goes to see Annie. He offers to pay Mary Kelly to help Annie look after the baby because he feels responsible for introducing her to Prince Eddy, and for keeping his true identity a secret from her.

Annie arranges the marriage, and Prince Eddy does not want to disappoint her. He won't let Sickert stop the wedding, because he really does love Annie. He tells Sickert that nobody ever need know about their marriage.

They do discuss Ireland on the boat, but they are going to France. Mary starts using the name Marie Jeanette after their first visit to France, and she's excited to be going again.

Mary is Joe's common-law wife, and they are living in a small home in New Street. Cleveland Street is where Annie's sweet shop is, and where Mary meets up with Sickert just before Prince Eddy is taken away.

Queen Victoria finds out about her grandson's secret life, and sends men to find him and bring him back. Annie is taken away and locked in a mental hospital to keep her quiet. Mary manages to escape with Alice, without being seen.

Sickert discovered the scarf on the floor, after the Prince was taken away, and recognised it because he'd commented on it earlier. In real life, Sickert had a red scarf which he kept with him and valued very much. He would wear it when he painted, and seemed to associate it with murder.
