1. What color is the stray cat that Meggie brings into Fenoglio's spare apartment?

Answer: Gray

Meggie thinks that she might be able to keep the cat, but after Basta arrives it hides under the bed. Meggie tries to stall Basta by telling him that the cat will die (which is bad luck) if it gets shut in the room, but he just opens a window.

2. Why does Basta always wear long sleeves?

Answer: His arms are burned

We don't know this until Fenoglio says it, among many other things about Capricorn and his other characters that they won't admit.

3. When Basta kidnaps Meggie (with Fenoglio) for the second time, he uses his knife to gouge the word "BASTA" into what?

Dustfinger thought it would be longer, but after a single, uncomfortable night, Capricorn has them moved to the Crypt.

Smooth stones and colored candles are the things Resa is never without. She uses the stones to hold open her books, and when Meggie was little she would steal the stones and roll them across the floor. Resa uses one of her candles to giver her and Dustfinger light while they're in the Crypt.

Meggie doesn't actually read it, she just pretends to and instead spends her time thinking about where Mo is.
