At the beginning of the book they have Clem's funeral. Her husband was thrown from the horse while going after the other horse that broke loose during the night.

2. Who became Marty's best friend?

Answer: Ma Graham

Marty admires Ma Graham's wisdom and knowledge. Ma helps her in the first difficult weeks of her marriage, and was there to deliver her first child.

3. What is Missie Davis's full name?

Answer: Melissa Ann Davis

Marty asked Clark to tell her things about the little girl Missie, so she would be able to tell her the cute little things that she had done as a child. That was when he told her the child's real name: Melissa Ann Davis.

Wanda Marshall becomes a quick friend to Marty, but she cannot have a child that stays alive more than a few hours after birth. She had lost three children, and had given up all hope of having the baby she wanted.
