Hans Christian Andersen wrote this story 1835. The soldier helps a witch retrieve her tinder box from a tree but manages to keep the box. By using the flint and steel in the tinder box the soldier calls forth magic dogs to do his bidding.
10. Four animals take over a nice cottage by frightening off the human tenants.

Answer: Town Musicians of Bremen

This is a German tale recorded by the Grimm Brothers. It is about a donkey, a dog, a cat and a rooster, all mistreated by their masters. They decide to go to Bremen, known for its freedom, to live without owners.
The town of Bremen has a bronze statue depicting the story.
