Orwell went to Asia to join the Indian Imperial Police in 1922 and was stationed in Burma (now Myanmar). Although a novel, "Burmese Days" characterises some of his experiences and British relationships with the indigenous population.

"London Pleasures" is the poem that never gets finished. "A Merry War" is a film of the book. "Why I Write" is a biographical essay published in 1946.
