1. Who was the mastermind behind the "mutant pox" virus?

Answer: Dr. Phyllis Crowder

Dr. Crowder was a disgruntled ex-lab employee who felt that the world need to pay because she was wrongfully dismissed from her job. Well in her mind it was wrongful termination.
2. What was the name of the aromatherapy spray that contained the "mutant pox" virus?

Answer: Vita!

These bottles were delivered to Scarpetta and her staff. Unfortunately Wingo used it on his face and he died from the diease.
3. What time of year was Carrie Grethen's trial scheduled for?

Answer: Spring

When Janet visits Kay in isolation, she tells Scapetta that Carrie's trial is scheduled for that coming spring. Janet's worry was that Kay would be struck as a witness because of her niece Lucy's affair with the defendant.
